Mrs. Charldean Childress Gwyn

Mrs. Charldean Childress Gwyn, 86 of Mt. Airy, and widow of John M. "Johnny" Gwyn, Jr., passed away at Northern Hospital of Surry County on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Mrs. Gwyn was born in Surry County on April 28, 1926 to the late Clinton "C.M." and Maggie Lee Owens Childress. Mrs. Gwyn was a charter member of the Modern Gardner's Garden Club where she was an active member for 50 years, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Airy. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Bill Jolley of Mount Airy; two grandsons, John Walter Vaughn, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Broken Arrow, OK; and Benjamin Gwyn Vaughn of Asheville; one great grandson, Landon Walter Vaughn; two nieces, Linda Guglielmini and her husband, Ray, and Vicki Moser and her husband, Michael; three nephews, Rodney Gwyn, Ken Gwyn and Steve Gwyn; In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Gwyn was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Greathouse, and brother in law, Wayne Greathouse. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 2, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Chapel with the service conducted by Rev. Richard Wynne. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 until the hour of the service.
