Mrs. Claudine Agnes Handy Dalton, age 84 of Reidsville, North Carolina, and formerly of Cherry Creek Road, Meadows of Dan, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the home of her daughter. She was born in Patrick County on March 25, 1927. Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Dalton; a step-son, Henry Dalton; a step-daughter, Dolly Dalton; three sons, Nathaniel, Curtis, Ronnie; three infant children; and an infant granddaughter; her father and step-mother, Hobert and Elizabeth Handy and her mother, Flossie Knowles. She was a member of Vesta Pentecostal Holiness Church, and had been a wonderful homemaker and loving and caring mother to her nine children.
Mrs. Dalton is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Catherine and James Beasley of Reidsville; Peggy Bowman of Patrick Springs; four sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Tanya Dalton of Meadows of Dan, James and Angie Dalton of Patrick Springs, Jerry Dalton of Patrick Springs and Steven and Charm Dalton of Lexington, North Carolina; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dalton will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Vesta Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Jonathan Goins and Speaker James K. Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in the Gunter/Dalton Family Cemetery in Meadows of Dan. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vesta Pentecostal Holiness Church.
