"I go the way of all the earth" Mrs. Clemmie Gertrude Smith Cook died on October 4, 2013. She was born December 8, 1920 to Riley and Deily Kiser Smith. She had five brothers: Luther, Dubert, Reeber, Robert and Carl and two sisters: Ruby Smith and Lela Smith Newsome. They all predeceased her. She was a member of the 1938 graduating class of King High School. She married Joseph Glen Cook who preceded her in death. She had three sons: Glenn (Frances) of Mt. Airy, Gray (Linda) of Pinnacle and Timothy (Bonnie) of Westfield and four daughters: Sylvia Goins of Cornelius, Brenda (Bill) Deatherage of Mt. Airy, Phoebe (Thom) Wood of Pfafftown and Pamela Cook of Winston-Salem. Her son-in-law, Vernon Goins also predeceased her. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Clemmie loved God and her church where she was a charter member, the last to survive. She loved to cook, read, sing, play the piano, garden and to observe the wonders of God's world. She was a master storyteller. She instilled in her children the love of learning. The family will greet friends at Moody Funeral Home Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00. The funeral will be at Asbury Pentecostal Holiness Church on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 4:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the cemetery fund of Asbury Pentecostal Church, 1020 Pentecostal Church Dr., Westfield, NC 27053. The family would like to thank the excellent staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit of Northern Hospital for the care they gave in the final years of her life.
