Mrs Connie Collins Smitherman

Mrs. Connie Lee Collins Smitherman, 60 of Dobson passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Rockingham County on April 21, 1952 to the late Clarence Harvey and Betty Griffin Collins. Mrs. Smitherman was a dedicated homemaker and a member of The Rock Church in King. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 41 years, Kimber Grant Smitherman, of the home; two daughters, Jennifer "JJ" and husband Asael Murillo and Tabbetha Kendrick all of Houston, Texas; eleven beloved grandchildren, including her special "baby girl" Kendall Leigh Oakley; a sister, Deborah Kay Collins of Watertown, TN; a brother, Tony and wife Geri Collins of San Antonio, TX and several special nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 AM on Sunday February 24, 2013 at The Rock Church in King by Pastor Aaron Butler. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 7 to 9 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Fathers Table c/o The Rock Church P.O. Box 469 King, N.C. 27021, an organization, to which she gave her heart, to feed the elderly and shut-in's.
