Mrs. Cornelia Via Gaines

Mrs. Cornelia Via Gaines, 89 of Stuart passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Patrick County on February 22, 1922 to the late Moses and Rosavell Wimbush Via. She retired from working in Textile and as her only surviving son stated; she was the nicest mother on the planet that was devoted to her family and Iron Belt Christian Church, which she was a member. Other than her parents, Mrs. Gaines was preceded in death by her husband; Leroy Gaines, a son; Anthony Dale Gaines, three brothers; Cephus, James and Clinton Via and a sister; Vera Ball.
Mrs. Gaines is survived by a son, Leroy Gaines, Jr., of Oostburg WI., a grandchild; Patreece Fitzpatrick, two sisters; Christine McAlister and Pauline Moore both of Stuart and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gaines will be held at 11AM on Tuesday January 10, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor William Henry Hairston officiating.
