Mrs. Dade Martha Jane Rorrer Lovell, age 94 of Woolwine, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on March 5, 1914 to the late Grover Cleve and Nellie Hopkins Rorrer. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lovell was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Isham "Fred" Lovell; a grandson, Bobby Dale Scott; a son-in-law, Albert Belcher; three brothers, Edward, Stowell and Cecil Rorrer; and two sisters, Kitty Maude Hollandsworth and Josie Lawson. She was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church for 82 years, she graduated from Blue Ridge Mission School in 1935, and retired from J. P. Stevens.
Mrs. Lovell is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Helena Belcher of Woolwine and Mildred and Bobby Scott of Bassett; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Maynard Lovell and Nash and Linda Lovell, all of Woolwine; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Losia Craig of Bassett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lovell will be held Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11:00am at Sycamore Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
