Mrs. Dessa Turner Plaster

Mrs. Dessa Turner Plaster, age 90 of Collinsville, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on July 27, 1920 to the late Grover and Ada Foster Turner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Plaster was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clarence Woodrow Plaster; four sisters, Nina Byrd and a set of infant triplets; and six brothers, Smith, Aaron, Irvin, Jesse Leonard, Herbert and Daniel Turner. She was a member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church and had retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 45 years service.
Mrs. Plaster is survived by five children, Betty P. Rakes, and husband, Robert, of Fieldale, Frank Plaster and wife, Violet, of Fieldale, G. Harold Plaster, and wife, Mary Ann, of Cascade, Herb Plaster of Axton, and Rita P. Griffin, and husband, Frank, of Oak Island, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Albert Turner, David Turner and A.C. Turner, all of Patrick Springs; and two sisters, Nellie Bowles of Patrick County and Mildred Stone of Bassett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Plaster will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Stever Garner officiating. Burial will follow in the Foster Family Cemetery on Egg Farm Road in Patrick Springs. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
