Mrs. Dora Anderson Sumner

Mrs. Dora Louise Anderson Sumner, age 83, of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Sumner was born in Iredell County on November 2, 1934 to Vernie and Elsie Jackson Anderson. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend who will be sorely missed by all her family and many friends. Among the many who will always cherish her memory are sons, Larry Sumner and very special friend Judy Willard; and Danny Sumner and wife April; grandchildren, Catlin Sumner, Carley Sumner; and Jennifer Laws and husband Kris; great granddaughter, Covia Laws; sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Childress, Betty and Troy Spillman, Margaret Vestal and Ruth Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sumner was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sumner; and a daughter-in-law, Belinda Sumner; and brothers, Dwight Anderson, and Wayne Anderson. Funeral services will be held at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 18, 2018 by Dr. Darrell Tate and the Rev. Larry Thomas. Burial will follow in New Venture Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 2:30.
