Mrs. Doris Redfern Ashton

Mrs. Doris Redfern Ashton, age 90, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away Tuesday morning July 24, 2012 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Thomas County Ga. on April 12, 1922 to the late Joseph and Florence Wood Redfern. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Burton L. Ashton; son David Lee Ashton; five sisters Irma McBride, Grace McBride, Lois Partin, Louis North, Marie Kelly; one brother James Daniel Redfern. She was a member of Westfield Baptist Church and was a retired Insurance Processor. Surviving are her daughter-in-law Janice Ashton of Dobson, granddaughter Brandon D. Ashton and husband Dan Olah of Montreal Canada; two great grandsons Nicholas and Zachary; one sister Evelyn Brannon of Florence, Alabama; sister-in-law Betty-Jean Wilkerson of Fort Worth TX; special friend Ivan Woodle of Dobson. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday 4:00 PM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, services will be by Chaplin Justin Nelson. The family would like to give a special thanks to Chaplin Justin Nelson for his love and support. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice home 945 Zephyr Rd.
