Mrs. Doris Joy Cloud

Mrs. Doris Joy Cloud, 75 of Mt. Airy passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Sunday, April 1, 2012. Mrs. Cloud was born in Surry County on February 23, 1937 to the late Monty and Betty Younger Vernon. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church. She is survived by her devoted husband, Junior Cloud; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and David Thomas of Mt. Airy; one grandson, Lee Thomas of Mt. Airy and one great grandson, Carter Thomas and his mother, Amanda McCraw; sisters and a brother-in-law, Grace and Baxter Smith of Hickory, Mary Key of Siloam; brother and sisters-in-law, Jack and JoAnne Vernon of Mt. Airy, Chris Vernon and Alma Vernon both of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cloud was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Rachel and Wesley Willard, Jettie and Grover Riggs and Hassell Key; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Pet Vernon, Reid Vernon, Brady and Virginia Vernon and Wade Vernon. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 1015 N. Franklin Rd., Mt.
