Mrs. Dorothy Trudy Hooker Conner

Mrs. Dorothy Trudy Hooker Conner, age 87 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on June 8, 1920 to the late Abe and Lilla Frye Hooker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Pierce Conner; four sisters, Vadie Hooker Collins, Mannie Hooker Collins, Katie Hooker Collins and Iris Hooker Fain; and two brothers, Dillard and Arthur Hooker. She was a member of Mayo Mountain Baptist Church.
Mrs. Conner is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Douglas Butcher of Mount Airy, North Carolina, and Shirlene and Leon Fain of Stuart and Betty Conner, all of Stuart; two sons and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Tina Conner and Burton Conner, all of Stuart; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; special caregivers, granddaughters Rebecca Fain and Kiley Conner Scott; special friend, Lisa Coalson and special niece, Shirley Collins.
Funeral services for Mrs. Conner will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church with Mark Collins, Rev. Jim Churchwell and Pastor Mike Hundley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and other times at the home.
