Mrs. Dorothy Mills Martin age 81 of 1185 Guernsey Road, Mt. Airy, NC widow of Mr. Ansley Ralph Martin passed away Monday October 17, 2011 at her home. She was born March 1, 1930 in Surry County to the late Lonnie T. and Annie Atkins Mills. She was retired from Tultex, was a member of Albion Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Bobby Warden of Pinnacle, Nancy and Roger Blevins of West Jefferson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis Ansley and Phyllis Martin Mt. Airy, Timothy Ralph and Brenda Martin, Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Amanda Fleming and husband, Lee, Cynthia Ann Martin and Tommy Bedsaul, Jr., Curtis Ansley Martin, Jr., Nathaniel Warden, Zachary Blair Blevins; a step-grandchild, Carla Warden Houck, a special aunt and uncle, Eva Davis, Ararat, NC and Cecil Atkins, Ararat, NC. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Ann Martin, two sisters, Lois Edwards and Avis Martin and brother, Delmar Mills. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Chaplain Justin Nelson, Rev. Tommy Martin and Rev. Billy Watson. Burial will follow in the Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of the Mt. Airy Dialysis Center and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
