Dorothy Wagner Phillips, know to many as simply “Dot”, was born in Surry County to Brady and Lora Cox Wagner on August 3rd, 1928. She accepted an invitation on February 17th, 2018, to make a permanent move to heaven, to reunite with her beloved husband and only love of her life, Wendell Snow Phillips, and her late sons, Tony Phillips and Thomas “Tom” Phillips. Dorothy Phillips was a farmer, a seamstress, and a business owner in Surry County, and spent her lifetime in service of her family. Of the Baptist faith, Dorothy Phillips was well known for her commitment to her church, her devoted love for her family, and her hilarious sense of humor. Those who knew her well agree that she was the hardest worker they have ever known, and that her homemade biscuits, sweet potato sonker, and strawberry cobbler, were unrivaled for perfection. (Though she made every effort to pass on these skills, all attempts have fallen short to date.) Dorothy is survived by her son Arnold/ Wendy Phillips, her daughter Linda/Roger Miller, her two daughters-in-law, Donna Phillips and Debbie Phillips, one sister, Ola Sadler, 9 grandchildren, 19 great children, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb 20, 2018, from 12:00pm – 2:00pm at Moody Davis Funeral Service in Dobson, NC. The funeral will follow at 2:00pm, and interment will immediately follow at Fairview Baptist Church cemetery in Dobson, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd Dobson, NC 27017. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
