Mrs. Dorothy Hazelwood Ross

Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Hazelwood Ross, age 88 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on March 1, 1922 to the late Irvin W. Hazelwood and Annie Dickerson Hazelwood. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Ross, Sr.; one son, Charles Lewis Ross, Jr.; one sister, Virginia H. Haymond; and four brothers, Clyde L., John "Red", Ray "Jeep" and James "Shorty" Hazelwood. She was a graduate of Stuart High School, was of the Methodist faith, and had worked as a clerk for Farmers Foods (formerly Alexander's Food Market).
Mrs. Ross is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Roger Hall of Spencer; one step-granddaughter, Erica Lee Hall of Fieldale; one sister, Frances Hazelwood of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial graveside service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Stuart Cemetery with Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. The family will receive friends at 403 Oakhurst Drive, Stuart.
