Mrs. Dorothy Frances Draughn Rumley

Mrs. Dorothy Frances Draughn Rumley, age 91 of Dobson, NC passed away on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Central Continuing Care Nursing Home in Mt. Airy. She was born in Surry Co. on October 17, 1925 to the late Sidney Raymond Draughn and the late Maggie Jones Draughn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over forty years Clifford A. Rumley; two sisters Ruth Draughn Bledsoe and Lucille Draughn Wood; three brothers Ralph, Kelly, and Harvey Draughn. She was an active member at Rockford Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was the choir director while her health permitted. She was a graduate of Copeland High School; and worked at Kelly Hardware with her husband and brother. Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law Nannie Lou Draughn Kidd and husband Ray Kidd of Dobson; brother and sister-in-law Raymond B. and Hollie Draughn of Matthew, NC; one sister-in-law Bertha Key Draughn of Burlington, NC; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday May 5, 2017 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home with a private burial to follow in the Rockford Cemetery. Rev. Alton Bledsoe and Rev. Dennis Bledsoe will conduct the service. The family will receive friends on Friday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until the time of her service at 1:00 PM. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Rockford Church Cemetery Fund 4947 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Rumley family.
