Mrs. Dorothy Virginia King Tolbert, age 83 of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Tolbert was born in Carroll County on December 9, 1928 to Frank and Gladys Jones King. She was retired from Quailty Mills and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Philip Moody of Pfafftown; Susan and Mark Simmons of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Gray and Kim Tolbert of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Will Moody, Annah Moody, Ethan Tolbert and Molly Simmons; step grandchildren, Tyler and Meghan Angell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Clinton Cagle and Hazel and Verlon Combs all of Cana, VA; and Betty Leftwich of North Myrtle Beach, SC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Otto and Joan King and Darrell and Marie King all of Cana; two very special friends, Sandy and Ed Leahy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tolbert was preceded in death by her husband William Roger Tolbert; a sister, Ossie Golding; and a brother, Curtis King. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Alex Martin and Rev. Verlon Combs. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and doctors at Golden Living and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the wonderful care that was given to Mrs. Tolbert during her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 400 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
