Mrs. Dorothy Francis Venable

Mrs. Dorothy Francis Venable, age 91of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Mrs. Venable was born on March 20, 1920 in Surry County to the late Chris Francis and Leoma Hiatt Francis. She retired from Quality Mills. She taught Children's Sunday School Class for over 30 years and was a devoted member of Christ Community Church in Mt. Airy. She is survived by several nieces and nephews that she loved, Harmel Francis, Debra Crutchfield, Sandra Boles, Barbara Simmons, Lena Gordon, Ruby Smith, Ray Francis, Marylene Smith, Kay Jones, Elaine Corn, Ginger Collins, Van Venable, Joel Venable, Emma Grey Bennett, Jimmy Venable, Pam Trussell, Christy Hawkins, Judy Christian, Tensye Westrup, Eddie Wilson and Jerry Wilson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Venable was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Venable; three sisters, Iona Francis Wood, Lorena Francis Yow and Inez A. Francis; four brothers, Cleburn A. "Pat" Francis, John Herbert Francis, Paul B. Francis and Lonnie Odell Francis. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Oakdale Cemetery by Dr. David Brady. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time to leave for the service.
