Mrs. Dorothy Colleen Murdock Wood

Mrs. Dorothy Colleen Murdock Wood, age 76 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Heritage Hall - Laurel Meadows Nursing Home in Laurel Fork, Virginia. She was born in Saltville, Virginia on March 25, 1940 to the late Robert Washington Murdock and Edna Virginia Henderson Murdock. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Wood; two sisters, Opal Ilene Severt and Wanda Jane Keith; and two brothers, Donald Curtis Murdock and Ernest Leroy Murdock. She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering in her community and had volunteered for several years with the Heritage Hall - Laurel Meadows Nursing Home.

Mrs. Wood is survived by a God-daughter and her husband, Linda and Robert Raymond of Newport News, Virginia; a sister and brother-in-law, Gaynell Ruth and Charles Sigmon of Axton, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Murdock of Roanoke, Virginia and Lorene Murdock of Axton, Virginia; five brothers-in-law, Thomas Wood of Martinsville, Virginia, Clifford Wood and wife, Janet of Alabama, Lester Wood of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, Richard Wood and wife, Jeanette of Wytheville, Virginia, Sanford Wood of Meadows of Dan, Virginia; four sisters-in-law, Thelma Shelor and Virginia Martin both of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, Mary Clifton of Patrick Springs, Virginia, Maudie Edwards of Martinsville, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Terry Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
