Mrs. Earnestine Nola Cassell Venable, 81, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on June 24, 1931 to the late Samuel and Luna Atkins Cassell. Mrs. Venable was a homemaker and was a member of Blackwater United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Roby Roscoe Venable of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Ken Hatcher of Mt. Airy; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mickey and Alice Venable, Michael and Phyllis Venable, Milo Venable all of Mt. Airy, Mitchell and Jane Leigh Venable of Ararat; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Inez and Donald Hutson, Lena Tuttle, Wanda Atkins, Jewell Hutson, Shelby and Harvey Sawyers all of Mt. Airy, Alene and Buddy Cockerham of Lowgap, Lavern and Ricky Bruner of Ararat; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Mac and Joann Cassell, Wayne Cassell all of Mt. Airy, Charles Cassell of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Venable was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Dale Venable and James Hungerford; a sister, Mildred Spencer Sawyers; a brother, Junior Ellis Cassell; a brother-in-law Wayne Atkins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Blackwater United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Turman, Rev. Ray Hutson, and Rev. Mac Cassell officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwater United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses in the ICU at Northern Hospital and the staff of the Woltz Hospice home for their love and care given to their mother during her illness.
