Mrs. Edith Jane Hauser Jones, 90, widow of Otis Young Jones, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Jones was born May 11, 1924 in Winston-Salem to the late George Washington and Bettie Holston Hauser. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends who knew her as a loving and compassionate soul. Surviving Mrs. Jones are her daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor Jones Meredith and her husband Larry of Grayson, GA; Deborah Jones White of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren and spouses, Karen Hanna of Carrollton, TX; Sheldon Meredith and his wife Kerry of Roswell, GA; Travis McMillian of Dobson; Amy Dalton and her husband Kevin of Meadows of Dan, VA; Todd McMillian; Angela Goad and her husband Wiley; Chad White and his fiancée Rebecca Branson all of Mount Airy; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and one sister, Margaret Edmonds of Mount Airy. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Jones McMillian; a great granddaughter, Kayla Nichole McMillian; a great grandson, Levi Goad; two sisters, Dorothy McGee and Ruby Hodges and a brother Junior Hauser. Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Franklin High School and Hardbarger Business College. She spent many years working in the textile industry and permanently retired from her own seamstress business in 2006. She was a faithful member of Shining Light Baptist Church. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Elmo Hiatt will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with entombment to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Tuesday beginning at 12:30 at the funeral home. A special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Central Continuing Care for their compassionate caring of Mrs. Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Alzheimer's Association of Western Carolina, 3800 Shamrock Dr. Charlotte, NC 28215 or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030
