Mrs. Edna Pauline White Frye

Ms. Edna Pauline White Frye, affectionately known as Ma, peacefully went to be with the Lord at her home on August 26th, 2017. She had just celebrated her 89th birthday with her loved ones on July 26th. Ma spent her life in dedication and service to the ones she loved. From friends and family, to children who were charmed by her silly faces, and even sick pets in the neighborhood that folks brought for Ma to care for, her caring and compassion touched many lives. She found her true love in becoming a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her resilience, strong-will, faithfulness and silliness has shaped her family in to the people they are today and will be passed on from generation to generation. She loved with a fierceness that few families are blessed enough to experience. Ma was born in Carroll County, VA on July 26th, 1928 to the late William and Jane White. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Frye; her brothers Bill White, Roy White, Nelson White and Charles White; and her sisters Irene Ross, Stella Combs, and Katherine Felts. She is survived by her brothers John White and Roger White; sister Betty Huyser; daughters Becky Pugh (spouse Mark Pugh), Martha Williams (spouse Mark Williams); grandchildren Megan Baker (spouse Josh Baker), Michelle Radtke (spouse Jacob Radtke), and Jeremy McKeithan; and great-grandchildren Eleanor Baker, Margaret Baker, Henry Radtke, and Jayden McKeithan; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held in her home at 219 Honey Locust Lane in Mount Airy, on Tuesday, August 29th at 2pm followed by a service at the same location at 3pm. The family would like to give a special thank you to the wonderful people of Mountain Valley Hospice as well as Dr. Lisa Petri and Dr. Chirapa Sinthusek for their many years of compassionate care.
