Mrs. Edna Short Simmons

Mrs. Edna Short Simmons, 96, of Mount Airy passed away on Saturday February 25, 2017. She was born October 15, 1920 in Surry County to the late Ida Short. She was retired from Renfro Hosiery and a member of Indian Grove Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Orbie Raymond Simmons. Surviving is a daughter, Clara Hathcock of Charlotte, a son and daughter-in-law Roger Simmons and wife Maggie of Pinehurst, four grandchildren, Karen Workman and Jennifer Malchesky and husband Jason all of Charlotte, Skip Simmons and wife, Amy of Tampa, Florida, and William Simmons and wife Mary of Fayetteville, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday March 3, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Frank Harmon. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home from 1 PM until time of the service.
