Mrs. Eleanor Mae Hatcher Turner

Mrs. Eleanor Mae Hatcher Turner, age 84 of Stuart, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, North Carolina. She was born on May 10, 1928 in Patrick County to the late Thomas and Mollie Hylton Hatcher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Turner, a grandson, Nelson P. Moore, III; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Conner Turner; a grandson-in-law, Ben Williams; two sisters, Elizabeth "Dib" Hatcher and Estelle Barnes; and three brothers, Moir Hatcher, Irvin Hatcher, Thomas Wilton Hatcher, Jr. She was a longtime member of Fairystone Baptist Church, was a member of the Buffalo Ridge Community (Quilting) Club and volunteered at the Blue Ridge Nursing Home. She was a devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend.
Mrs. Turner is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Larry Foley of Ridgeway, Janet and Nelson P. Moore, II of Ferrum; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Rozina Turner of Stuart; nine grandchildren, Kim Handy, Brandon Foley, Brent Foley, Emily Williams, Seth Moore, Samantha Lawson, Brian Turner, Jenny Turner and Maria Turner; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Roberta Adams of Stuart and Alberta Fain of Woolwine.
Funeral services for Mrs. Turner will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Jim Dunn and Pastor Clint Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery (adjacent to the Woolwine United Methodist Church). The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and other times at the homes of her children.
