Mrs. Elizabeth Holden Bennett

Mrs. Elizabeth Mattie Holden Bennett, age 86 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, June 08, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Bennett was born in Floyd County, VA on May 10, 1927 to Luther William and Mary Ruth Cooper Holden. She was a loving homemaker who raised seven wonderful children. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters and sons-in-law, Annie Dunford; Iris and Joseph Dobson; Janice and Wade Phillips and Susan DeJesus all of Mt. Airy and Mary Crotts of Ararat, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Ogene and Martha Bennett and L. W. and Joann Bennett all of Mt. Airy; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Annie Holden of Floyd, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Ogene Bennett and brothers, Nathan Holden and William Holden. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 10, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Cliff Daniel and speaker Joseph Dobson. Burial will follow in Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
