Mrs. Elizabeth Jones Goodman, 85 of Winston Salem passed away Friday August 26, 2011 at the Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation in Winston Salem. Mrs. Goodman was born in Surry County, January 24, 1926 to the late Kenneth K. Jones, Sr. and Roberta Draughon Jones. She graduated from Mt. Airy High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Coca Cola Company for many years. After her marriage to Jim Goodman, she moved to Sparta. She and Jim were supporters of the Alleghany Education Foundation where she served as secretary. Through their work many young people from Alleghany County were provided scholarships to help further their education. Lib was also an active volunteer with Hospice of Alleghany, and served on their board of the local and district units. Lib was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Kenneth K Jones, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Pauline Jones Blackburn of Winston Salem, a niece, Donna Blackburn, of Colorado Springs, CO. a nephew, Kenneth E. Blackburn and his wife sally of Winston Salem; a great niece, Anna Catherine Blackburn; four special god children, Melinda Edwards of Statesville, Gordon Poore of Roanoke, VA. Christopher Hughes of NY, and Jan Beasly of SC. She enjoyed many hobbies, including cross-stitching, playing bridge, golf, and traveling to Florida with Jim. She was an avid collector of vintage Coca Cola items, but was best known for her handmade paper Moravian stars and candles, her miniature dollhouses and teddy bears. Lib was a life-long member of Grace Moravian Church in Mt. Airy, and served as their secretary for many years before moving to Sparta. While living in Sparta, she attended and made many friends at Sparta Methodist Church, but she was always a Moravian. She maintained her Mt. Airy friendships for as long as her health permitted. She most recently lived in Winston Salem to be closer to her family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Grace Moravian Church with Rev. Tony Hayworth officiating. Burial will follow in God' Acre. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until time for the service. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Grace Moravian Church 1401 N Main St. Mt.
