Mrs. Ella Mae Carter

Mrs. Ella Mae Myers Carter, age 86 of Bassett, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Smyth County on October 21, 1920 to the late Fred Benton and Bertie Cline Myers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Carter; and two brothers, Robert Lee Myers and Earnest Eugene Myers. She attended County Line Church of God of Prophecy.
Mrs. Carter is survived by one son, Lindsey Carter of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; two daughters, Ruby Belcher of Bassett and Doris Ashburn of Spencer; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Mrs. Carter will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the County Line Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery with Rev. Freddie Bonds officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Thursday at the County Line Church of God of Prophecy. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
