Mrs. Elma Baker Marteney

Mrs. Elma Dale Baker Marteney, age 93, of Elkin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born in Marion County, West Virginia on July 26, 1920 to the late Frank and Grace Minnear Baker. Mrs. Marteney was a homemaker and a dedicated member of Salem Fork First Christian Church as long as her health permitted. Her memory will long be cherished by her devoted children, Vivian and husband George Sanner of Elkin and Allan R. and wife Donna Marteney of Leesburg, VA; her six grandchildren, Camilo A. Andrade ll, Jaime J. Andrade, George B. Sanner ll, Christopher S. Sanner, Nicholas Marteney and Brittany Marteney; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Hess and Elsie Roberts; four brothers, Tola Baker, Leon Baker, Roy Baker and Robert Baker; and a grandson, Robert Andrade. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Salem Fork First Christian Church by Rev. Caviness. A private burial will be on Monday, February 24, 2014 in National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made the Elma Marteney Funeral Fund c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home, PO Box 295 Dobson NC 27017 to assist the family with final expenses.
