Mrs. Eloise Vernell Martin Holt

Mrs. Eloise Vernell Martin Holt, 89, of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Stokes County, October 29, 1928 to the late Curtis L. and Pearlie Ann Hooker Martin. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Albion Baptist Church for 65 years, serving as church clerk for 61 years. Mrs. Holt is survived by her children, Laura Powell and fiancé Jeff Boyles, Anne and Fred Wendorf, Phil Holt and fiancé Patsy Brannock, Alice Woods and fiancé Donnie McMillian, and Eric Holt and fiancé Shanda Lawson; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Ray and Emily Martin; sisters, Sylvia Hill and Lester Johnson, and Vicky and Gray Joyce; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Daniel Holt; a daughter, Pearlie Darlene Holt Terry; two great-grandchildren, Stephen Atkins and Casey Terry; two sisters, Virginia Haley and Inez Jessup; and four brothers, Carl, Ralph, Mondell and Lamar Dean Martin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 9, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Easter, Rev. Rickey Rogers, and Rev. Chris McMillian officiating. Burial will follow at Albion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday at Albion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017 or to the NC Baptist Children’s Home, C/O of Albion Baptist Church, 131 Big Sky Trail, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
