Mrs. Elvera "Sid" Lind Mitan

Mrs. Elvera "Sid" Lind Mitan, age 94 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Landmark Center in Stuart. She was born in Litchfield, Illinois on November 20, 1917 to the late Asa and Emma Samples Hearlston. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitan was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry J. Lind; her second husband, Edward F. Mitan; one son, John H. Lind; one granddaughter, Heather Lind Patterson; one sister, Faye Young; and one brother, Ace Hearlston. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and had been a school bus driver with the Illinois public school system.
Mrs. Mitan is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Annetta Lind of Stuart; two daughters, Judith Varnadore of Shalimar, Florida, Janice Thompson and husband, Dennis, of New Berlin, Wisconsin; five grandsons, Jeffery J. Lind, Jr. and wife, Moira, of Lindenhurst, Illinois, Corey E. Lind of Martinsville, D.J. Thompson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rickie Varnadore and Jimmy Varnadore, both of Shalimar; three granddaughters, Jennifer Zirbel and husband, Matt of Milwaukee, Debra Varnadore and Kristine Varnadore, both of Shalimar; and eleven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Mitan will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Ted Thisse and Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1108, Stuart, Virginia 24171.
