Mrs. Estelle Dowell Sechrist

Mrs. Estelle Dowell Sechrist, 82 of Cana, VA passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Carroll County, VA to the late Carvey Talmadge and Rosie Edwards Dowell. She worked at Renfro Hosiery for many years prior to enjoying the opportunity to care for her grandchildren. After several years at home with the grandchildren, Mrs. Sechrist went back to work in fast food industry and retired from Rooftop of Virginia. She attended Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Mrs. Sechrist was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Sechrist; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Becky Sechrist; grandsons; Jonathan and wife, Heather Sechrist, Chase McMillian, and Daniel Sechrist; six great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Gretchen, Ethan, Remington, Haven and Mahayla Sechrist; a great-godson, Nacoma Leftwich; a brother, Billy Dowell; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sechrist was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Allison Sechrist; a sister, Rose Mary Dowell and a brother, Odell Dowell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Sechrist, Rev. Dwight Sechrist and Rev. Ed Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Cana Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM on Sunday at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
