Mrs. Eunice Virginia Martin Wood

Mrs. Eunice Virginia Martin Wood, 84, of Lowgap, passed away Wednesday June 21, 2017 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Carroll County on February 16, 1933 to the late Andrew and Mary Thomas Martin. Mrs. Wood was a longtime member of Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Willie Martin; several nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Billy and Shelby Hodges; and her furry babies, 2 dogs, Lassie and Lady and a cat, Charlie. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Allen Wood; and a sister, Anna Rosebell Martin Jones. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday June 24, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Avery Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Trust, c/o Clarence Goins, 3374 W. Pine St., Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff of Northern Hospital for their love and care shown to Mrs. Wood during her sickness.
