Mrs. Eva Holt Collins, age 93 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on September 8, 1914 to the late David Crockett and Cora Lawson Holt. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, James Early Collins, and a sister, Essie Woods. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Mrs. Collins is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James David "J.D." and Joan Collins of Collinsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Coy Hall of Stuart; five grandchildren, Mark Hall and wife, Patricia, Michael Hall and wife, Missy, Suzanne Terry and husband, Scott, Jamie Collins and wife, Denise and Jason Collins; 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; four brothers, Lester Holt of Fieldale, Paul Holt and Junior Holt, both of Stuart, and Charles Holt of Mount Airy, North Carolina; and two sisters, Irene Rigney of Bassett and Frances Koger of Patrick Springs.
A graveside service for Mrs. Collins will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Elder Jimmy Joyce and Pastor Larry Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
