Mrs. Eva Lou Wood Gillespie, 94, of Dobson passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Surry County on October 5, 1922 to the late, Elder Donnie Wood and Mattie Lawson Wood. Mrs. Gillespie retired from Tultex in Dobson and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Artis Golding, Brenda and Don Snow, Patty and Eddy Beasley; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Dara Gillespie, and Darlene Gillespie; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Vernelle Hodges, Elizabeth and Frank Jarrell, Barbara Jarrell; a sister-in-law, Eunice Wood; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Gillespie, and a daughter, Peggy Louise Gillespie; sister, Magdalene Wood, and brothers, Donald Wood, and Riley Wood; a brother-in-law, Franklin Hodges. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
