Mrs. Evora Simmons Stone

Mrs. Evora Simmons Stone, age 85 of Stuart, passed away Monday, December 17, 2007 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born in Tyrrell County, North Carolina on July 16, 1922 to the late Charles and Sadie Spencer Simmons. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Spear, her second husband, Lester Adams, her third husband, Frank Curtis Stone; five brothers, Lindsey, Olis, Hilton, Charles and Eldon Simmons, and three sisters, Idella Armstong, Ada Sykes and Shirley Moore. She was a longtime member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.
Mrs. Stone is survived by one step-daughter, Lona Graham, and her husband, Ronnie, of Stuart; one step-son, C. Randolph Stone, and wife, Mamie, of Bassett; seven step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Vilas Secrist of Roanoke.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stone will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Anderson and Rev. Wayne Hannah officiating. Burial will follow in Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at the home at other times beginning Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. If desired, memorials may be made to the Pleasant View Baptist Church Building Fund, 4432 Pleasant View Drive, Patrick Springs, Virginia 24133.
