Mrs. Fannie H. Turner, 96, of Woolwine, Virginia passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on July 19, 1915 to the late Hill Thomas and Jersuha Hall. She attended Smith River Church of the Brethren; loved cooking, canning, quilting and was a devoted wife, mother and friend to all. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene B. Turner; two daughters, Christeen Bowman and Hazel "Polly" Boothe; five half brothers and two half sisters.
Surviving Mrs. Turner are two daughters, Cathleen Whitlow of Collinsville and Eunice Turner of Woolwine; four sons and daughter-in-law, Hansel Turner and Judy Craig of Woolwine, Roy and Carol Turner of Woolwine, Leonard Turner of Rocky Mount and Troy Turner of Woolwine; seven grandchildren: Penny Lester, Sue Whorley, Pam Boothe Hall, Reggie Whitlow, Michael Whitlow, Troy Newton and Travis Newton and six great grandchildren: Douglas Whorley, Dustin Whorley, Tiffany Hall, Bethany Hall, Hayley Newton and T.J. Newton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Turner will be held on Tuesday January 24, 2012 at 2:00pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Danny Gilley and Douglas Whorley officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home. Memorial donations may be made to Smith River Rescue Squad, 9962 Woolwine Highway, Woolwine, VA 24185.
