Mrs. Frances Quesinberry Lewis Gravley, age 85, of Mt. Airy, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 19, 2016. Mrs. Gravley was born in Surry County on April 12, 1930 to Otis and Lula White Quesinberry. Frances adored her family, numerous friends and Cross Creek co-workers. She was an avid shopper and loved antiques, traveling, gardening and birdwatching. Many weekends were spent at Chalet High on the Blue Ridge Parkway, enjoying the view, going for long walks and socializing with her special mountain friends. She and her husband, Charles, loved dancing and ringing in the New Year’s at Mt. Airy Elks Lodge. Frances always had a smile on her face and kindness in her heart. Left to cherish her sweet memory are her children: Teresa A. Lewis; Charles C. Lewis and wife, Caryl Wimbish Lewis; and Lisa Y. Lewis; her grandchildren: Melissa A. Quesinberry; Kelly Lewis; and Brad Lewis; sisters, Odessa Vestal and Betty Jo Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gravley; a sister, Thelma Burgess, brothers, Burnett Quesinberry and Ivey “Pete” Quesinberry and by a nephew, Ivey Vestal. The family would like to thank all the wonderful friends and caregivers for their many visits and help and a special thank you to her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Donna Gravley and neighbor, Nancy Lovill. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home from 12:30 until 1:30. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, at Oakdale Cemetery by Rev. Lee Johnson.
