Mrs. Frances Swaim Haynes

Mrs. Frances Swaim Haynes, 87, went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2016. Mrs. Haynes was born December 8, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Diamond Arthur Swaim, Sr. and Mary Etta Baker Swaim. Frances was a graduate of High Point College. She retired after 25 years of service with IBM in 1990. She married Rev. Othel G. Haynes on November 4, 1950 and was married for 53 wonderful years before his passing in 2004. Together they faithfully pastored the following Pentecostal Holiness Churches; New Hope, Yadkinville, Hodgesville, St. John, Trinity and Flat Rock. She served as Women’s Ministry President of the Cornerstone Conference IPHC in the 1970’s. Mrs. Haynes was a Hospice Volunteer for Surry County for many years and loved serving people in any way she could. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family more than can be said. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chaplain Michael W. Haynes and wife Tina; a daughter and son-in-law, Denecia H. Collins and husband Ottis; grandchildren, David Collins and wife Megan, Joy Haynes, Kristin Hewitt and husband Ronnie, Jon Collins and wife Amy; great-grandchildren, Easton Collins, Brooks Hewitt, Brody Hewitt, and Zane Collins; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and husband Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Dr. David Sparks and Dr. Brenda Grasty officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
