Mrs. Gaye Frances East Hicks

Mrs. Gaye Frances East Hicks, 89, of Mount Airy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning April 8, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born on April 18, 1927 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Howard S. East and Lula George East. Mrs. Hicks was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Mrs. Hicks was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church for many years. Left to cherish her memories are four sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Morgan Hicks and wife Cindy of Roanoke, VA, David Mitchell Hicks and wife Marsha of Franklin, TN, Darrell Owen Hicks and wife Cindy of Lewisville, NC, and John Walter Hicks and fiancé Martha Assante of Vernon, NJ; two grandchildren, Erin Hicks and Ian Hicks; a sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie Ann and Johnny Throckmorton of Fayetteville, NC; four nieces and one nephew; and one cousin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jack M. Hicks; and a sister and brother-in-law, Georgia Mae Treece and Eurice “Pete” Treece. Graveside services will be held in Oakdale Cemetery with the Rev. Stewart Mauck officiating on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
