Mrs. Georgia Ethel Culler Johnson, 72 of Mt. Airy, widow of Oliver Lee Johnson passed away at the home of her daughter, Tuesday, August 16, 2011. Mrs. Johnson was born in Patrick County on December 11, 1938 to the late Grant and Madie King Culler. She retired from Henredon Furniture and was a member of the Blue Ridge Tabernacle. Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Susie and Randy Jones of Cana, Karen Whitby of Atlantic Beach, NC; grandchildren, Tyler Johnson and wife, Brandy, Scotty Jones and wife, Courtney, and Ryan Jones and wife, Bell; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Candice and Cailey Johnson and Rayne Jones; sisters, Betty Johnson and Dorothy Manuli both of Mt. Airy; brothers, Ray Culler of Pilot Mountain and Buddy Culler of Mt. Airy; special best friend, Betty Jo Potts. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Sue Johnson and a son, James Lewis "Buck" Johnson and a brother, Bobby Lee Culler. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Noel Hawks, the Rev. George Lambert and the Rev. Edward Coins officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 and at other times at Mrs. Johnson's home, 123 Lynnhaven Rd., Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
