Mrs. Geraldine Ball Collins, age 71 of Mt. Airy passed away, Friday, December 9, 2011 at her home surrounded by her caring family. Mrs. Collins was born on March 5, 1940 to the late Floyd Ball and Clara Caviness Ball. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Collins retired from Kentucky Derby and was a member of Slate Mountain Baptist Church. Mrs. Collins is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Gerald Lambert of Pilot Mountain, Christine and Samuel Pack of Mt. Airy and Rebecca and Jimmy Vickers of Pilot Mountain; two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Alisha Watson of SC and David Watson and friend, Donna Young of Mt. Airy; a step daughter, Donna Beasley of Rural Hall; a step son, Arlis Ray Collins of Pilot Mountain; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky and Bill Brown of High Point, Barbara and Jerry Bennett of Kernersville, Frances Tucker of High Point; Dorothy Ball of Asheboro , and Wilma and Bill Meadows of Archdale; a brother, Vernon and Pat Ball of High Point and her special companion Max. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Arlis "Buddy" Collins; two sons, Tony Lee and Terry Joe Watson; a step daughter, Beverly Blevins and a brother, Junior Ball. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Chris McMillian and Rev Vernon Dale Ball with burial to follow in the Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Moody Funeral Service, PO Box 1288, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 to assist with the funeral expenses. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative and their church family for all the care, help and love given during Mrs. Collin's illness.
