Mrs. Gerlteen McCraw Simpson

Mrs. Gerlteen Rachel McCraw Simpson, age 72 of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Northern Hospital. Mrs. Simpson was born in Surry County on July 29, 1940 to Glen and Ethel Sechrist McCraw. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend to so many. Left to cherish her loving memory is a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Kenneth Lawson of Mt. Airy; sons and a daughter-in-law, Mitch Simpson of Charlotte; Todd and Kathy Simpson of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Drew Simpson, Logan Simpson, Paige Simpson; a sister, Earlene Smith of Mt. Airy; a niece, Nikki Hopkins and a great niece Ella Glyn Hopkins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy "Tim" Gray Simpson and a grandson, Jacob Simpson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 14, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dwight Sechrist and Rev. David Sechrist. Burial will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Todd and Kathy Simpson at 354 Foxwood Lane, Mt. Airy.
