Mrs. Gloria Hucie Watson Lawson

Mrs. Gloria Hucie Watson Lawson, 76 of Mt. Airy passed away at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living on Friday, April 5, 2013. She was born in Surry County on May 27, 1936 to the late Howard Lee and Bessie Hall Watson. Mrs. Lawson was of the Baptist Faith, she worked as a head start teacher with Yveddi and a care giver with Easter Seals before retiring. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Trelesa Ann and Jeff Hodges and Faith and Wade McCreary all of Mt. Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Nathaniel and Tandra Lawson and Neal Lawson all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Joey A. O'Dell, Jamie Holder, Roby L. O'Dell, A. Reid McCreary, Morgan Lawson and Chase Lawson; two great grandchildren, Layne McCreary and Kaylee O'Dell; a sister Hazel Joyce; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jean Watson; special friends, Frances Frazier and Wanda Byrd. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Kent Lawson; a son, Anthony K. Lawson; two grandchildren, Josh McCreary and Ashley McKoney; six brothers, William A., Marvin L, Lowell H., Cladie D., Wilton and Joe Watson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Josh Sechrist and Rev. Keith Love officiating. Burial will follow in at Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
