Mrs. Gloria Shelor Vaughn

Mrs. Gloria Shelor Vaughn, age 72 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County on August 8, 1939 to the late Allen and Rillie Scott Shelor. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by five siblings, Eugene Shelor, Elizabeth Campbell, Judy Holt, Harry W. Shelor and Michael Wayne Shelor. She had been a member of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church for 36 years, was a devoted wife, loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and loved her dog, Daisy.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her husband of 42 years, Herman Vaughn of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Robert Jones of Riner, and Wanda and Elmer Quesenberry of Meadows of Dan; a step-daughter, Vickie Godfrey of Danville; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Shelor of Meadows of Dan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Vaughn will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in the New Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
