Mrs. Hazel Emma Badgett Jessup

Mrs. Hazel Emma Badgett Jessup, 97, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Jessup was born in Surry County on June 2, 1915 to the late Charlie and Susan Key Badgett. She was a homemaker and a member of Dover Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister, Mecie McHone of Tarboro; a brother-in-law, Jack Hutchins of Mt. Airy; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ed Jessup; four sisters, Lottie Johnson, Elsie Harbour, Bertha Shelton and Marie Hutchens; five brothers, Herman, Chester, Oscar, Elbert and Roger Badgett. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery with Rev. J. Cecil Hill officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 2:00 PM until time to go to the cemetery for the service. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Twelve Oaks for the love and care given to Mrs. Jessup during her stay there.
