Mrs. Hazel Freeman Shew

Mrs. Hazel Freeman Shew, age 81 the loving wife of the late Noah Shew and a loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away at her home on Tuesday evening February 5, 2008. She was born in Surry County on July 24, 1926 to the late Richard and Matilda Callahan Freeman. Mrs. Shew was a member of Central View Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from Wayne Farms. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son Grey Shew; one sister Geneva Johnson; two brothers Walter and Paul Freeman.
Surviving are three daughters and two son-in-law Peggy Shew of the home, Frances and Thomas Norman of Elkin, Debra and Lucky Mayberry of Wilkesboro; by ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; by three sisters and two brother-in-law Jewel and Junior White of Dobson, Virginia Cave of Dobson, and Mary Lou Shoemake of Marden, NC; by one brother Clarence Freeman of North Wilkesboro; a daughter-in-law Linda Thompson of Dobson. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Central View Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Her body will remain at Moody-Davis Funeral Home until carried to the Church to Lie in State 30 Min. before the services. Rev. Travis Chipman, Rev. Trent Lyons and Rev. Ray Hudson will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Thursday evening from 7 until 9 PM. The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, and a special thanks to Ronnie and Mellissa Ford, Amy Lawson and the neighbors and church family for the love and care shown to their mother and family. And give a special thanks to the Easter Brothers and Sarah Leazer and Gaynell and Mike Lambert for the music provided.
