Mrs. Hazel Cassady Wagoner, age 89 of Patrick Springs, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on November 29, 1921 to the late Kelsey and Ida Rodgers Cassady. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wagoner was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Reed Wagoner; two grandsons, Davis Blaine Keene and Ravis Ray Keene; seven brothers, Drury, Akers, Kelsey Jr., Johnnie, Elmo, Ralph, and Bronzie Lee Cassady; and one sister, Margaret Campbell. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Mrs. Wagoner is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond and Cathy Wagoner and Bobby Wagoner, all of Patrick Springs; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dora Keene of Stuart and Sue and Foy Fulcher of Patrick Springs; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Madeline Corns of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ann Corns of Martinsville and Louise Martin of Patrick Springs.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wagoner will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Wayne Moore and Rev. Bernard Handy officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
