Mrs. Helen Jean Shaw Easter

Mrs. Helen Jean Shaw Easter, age 72 of Lowgap, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday April 22, 2016 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Easter was born in Grayson County, VA on October 16, 1943 to the late Roy Eugene Shaw and Zienna Blevins Shaw. She is survived by her husband, Junior Ray Easter, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ray Easter of Glade Valley, NC and Johnny Easter and wife Sandi of Lowgap, NC; four grandsons, Shawn, Shane, Tyler, and Mitchell Easter; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Faye Bedsaul of Galax, VA, Margaret Isom of Galax, VA, and Nan Ferren and husband Don of Saint Clairsville, OH; a brother and sister-in-law Roy Lee Shaw and wife Sandra of Galax, VA; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Hallie Lowe, Sandy Holder, and Hattie Gaylean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Shaw Payne; and four brothers, Fred, Virgil, Jackie, and Robert “Bob” Shaw; and a daughter-in-law Lori Crouse Easter. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 25, 2016 at 2:00pm at Roaring Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Spurlin and Rev. Everett Shaw officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12-2pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Woltz Hospice Home.
