Mrs. Helen Louise Surratt Sawyers

Mrs. Helen Louise Surratt Sawyers, 94 of Mount Airy, passed away Monday evening, December 5, 2016 at Twelve Oaks. Mrs. Sawyers was born on October 30, 1922 in Greene County, TN to the late Swanson Surratt, Sr. and Viola Renner Surratt. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all that knew her and will be dearly missed. Mrs. Sawyers was retired from Spencers after many years of dedicated service. Mrs. Sawyers is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Mary Lynn Sawyers of Mount Airy; her daughter and son-in-law, Britta and Jeff Needham of Pilot Mountain; grandchildren, Kim Sawyers of Pilot Mountain, Travis Sawyers of Cornelius, Brittany Needham Tomlin and Toby of Mooresville, and Meagan Needham May and Michael of King; great-grandchildren Bransen, Austen, and Camden Tomlin all of Mooresville, and Sawyer and Reagan May both of King; and a sister and brother–in-law, Mary Ruth Beamer and Woodrow of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sawyers was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Sawyers; a grandson, Trenton Sawyers; three sisters, Geraldine Surratt and Pauline Surratt and Virginia Surratt Slate; and one brother, Swanson Surratt, Jr. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday December 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Tate and Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating with burial to follow in Skyline Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Twelve Oaks and to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice.
