Mrs. Hessie Hardy Stanley

Mrs. Hessie Hardy Stanley, 93, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Heritage Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on December 7, 1918 to the late William Thomas and Ella Poindexter Hardy. Mrs. Stanley was retired from Washington Mills and a faithful member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who dedicated her life to serving God and her community. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children Ronnie and Mary Ann Stanley of Boonville and Dianne and Lynn Hayden of Dobson; beloved grandchildren and spouses, Keith and Lynn Stanley, Jeff Stanley and partner Mark Hill, Sharon and Billy Brown, Heather Hayden and Michael Hayden; great-grandchildren Jessica Stanley, Kennie Stanley, Kellie Brown and Brooke Brown; a sister, Kathleen Wilson of Eden; a very special great-niece, Tiffany Crabb and her daughter Sierra; special friend, Maxine Stanley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her husband, Kennie Floyd Stanley; two sons, Bruce A. Stanley and Billy Joe Stanley and two dear friends, Irene Chaney and Hazel Stanley. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday December 12, 2011 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church by the Rev. Keith Stanley, the Rev. Barlow Stanley and the Rev. James Pardue with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 until 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
