Mrs. Ida Mae Cotten, 99, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Fannin County, GA on March 30, 1918 to the late Robert Henry and Carrie Pearl Clore Nix. Mrs. Cotten was a home maker and a faithful member of Holly Springs Baptist Church since 1976 where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, and helped in other duties as she was needed. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Willa Mae Joyner, Jane Boggs, Brenda and Greg Burger and Julian Jordan; son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Susan Roark; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and soon to be thirteen great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cotten was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Roark; second husband, Domie Cotten; a daughter, Edna Jordan; a son, James Roark; four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Wayburn Mosley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
